Ian has over 30 years’ experience at board level, working primarily in the packaging industry. He has worked for large corporations; Metsäboard UK, David S Smith Packaging Plc, AssiDoman Packaging, CRP Print & Packaging, as well being involved in start-ups and smaller companies.
In 2005 Ian founded the specialist sustainable packaging innovations/marketing company PortaBrands Ltd, where a number of products received Starpack Innovation Awards, which are still in use today. He sold the company in 2010 to advise companies and brands to maximise their potential. Clients have included; The Less Packaging Company, Coca Cola, Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Waitrose, Maldon Salt, Costa, Burts Snacks, Bulk Powders, Pots & Co and Ugo Foods to name a few.
He is co-owner of Fibrepac (Fibrepac.com ) and advisor to aplasticplanet.com
Ian is strategic, commercial and creative with a hands-on management style; he describes himself as a marketer and sustainable material and packaging expert. He is married, and has a 22 year old son, who is interested in conservation.
He enjoys scuba diving, alpine skiing and cycling. Oh yes, he’s also obsessed with all things electric – powered by sunshine of course!
